5 fields missing from most packaging RFQs

Quick answer: Incomplete RFQs slow every custom packaging quote. Add unit weight, internal vs external basis, quantity by artwork version, sample type, and destination + date—then expect a clearer proposal.

1. Unit weight (and fragility)

Size alone does not set flute or wall. Weight and breakage history change board choice.

2. Dimension basis

Say whether L×W×H is internal clear space or external carton. Mixed bases cause refits.

3. Quantity by version

“5,000 boxes” with three prints is three lines. Split SKUs up front.

4. Sample type

Digital structure only, white sample, or printed pre-production? Each has different time and cost.

5. Destination and target date

Export pack and production slot depend on where and when—not only unit price.
