Sugarcane Bagasse

Sugarcane Bagasse Tableware — Moulded Plant Fibre

Plates, bowls, clamshells, compartment trays and lids moulded from sugarcane pulp. Oil resistant without a plastic film, designed for industrial composting.

Sugarcane pulp is what is left after the cane is crushed and the juice extracted. It is pressed into moulds under heat, so the shape is formed rather than cut or folded. That is why a bagasse plate can hold a wet, oily dish without a laminated film — and why the tooling cost is higher than a paper plate die.

What it is not

Bagasse tableware is designed for industrial composting, where heat and moisture are controlled. It is not a claim that the plate disappears in a home garden. If your market requires EN 13432 or ASTM D6400, say so at enquiry stage and the matching test report is supplied — a claim without the report is a claim your customer cannot defend.

Buyer questions

Is bagasse tableware compostable at home?

It is designed for industrial composting conditions. Home composting is slower and depends on the heap, so it is not marketed as home-compostable — that is not what the test reports certify.

Are bagasse products PFAS-free?

PFAS requirements differ by market and are changing quickly. State the regulation your customer requires and the declaration and test report are confirmed for that specific item. There is no blanket statement across the range.
