Paper Plates

Paper Plates — Coated and Uncoated, 6 to 12 Inch

Food-grade paperboard plates from 6 to 12 inch, PE or PLA coated, with up to 6-colour print on the outer surface.

A paper plate fails in one of two ways: it leaks, or it goes soft under a hot, wet dish. Both are coating problems rather than paper problems. PE coating is the cheapest and handles wet food; PLA coating costs more but is the version most European buyers ask for when they need a plastic-free claim. Both are quoted so the choice stays with the buyer.

Buyer questions

Are your paper plates microwave safe?

PE-coated plates tolerate short reheating at medium power; PLA-coated plates should not be microwaved because the coating softens at a lower temperature. Tell us how the plate is used and the coating is specified accordingly.

Can paper plates hold oily food?

Yes, with the correct coat weight. Fried food and pizza need a heavier coat than a salad plate, so the coat weight is specified per item rather than one grade across the range.

Need a plate that survives the dish?

Tell us the dish, the serving temperature and the coating requirement for your market. We quote PE and PLA side by side.
